Description
Three trees to plant as a family, for foliage to enjoy all year round!
This trio brings together three young trees chosen for their foliage: the holm oak, dark green all year, the cider gum with its silvery-blue, scented leaves, and the Japanese maple that turns from purple to bright red. A living gift for those who love watching colours change, young and old alike.
A calendar of foliage, in the garden or on the terrace
The holm oak (Quercus ilex) keeps its dense, green foliage all year and, over the years, will bear acorns. The cider gum (Eucalyptus gunnii) has round, silvery-blue leaves with a refreshing scent, and grows fast. The ‘Atropurpureum’ Japanese maple (Acer palmatum ‘Atropurpureum’) is purple in spring, bronze in summer, then bright red in autumn. All three can be planted in the ground; the cider gum and the maple also grow in pots, while the holm oak stays in a pot for a few years only.
Plant, water, observe: an adventure to share
Digging the holes, setting the three trees, watering them, spreading the mulch: every step is easy to share with children, who discover how trees grow. It is then up to them to measure the cider gum’s height each month, rub one of its leaves to smell the scent, note the maple’s changing colours and, one day, watch for the holm oak’s first acorns. Three trees, three personalities, and the pride of saying “we planted them ourselves”.
