Description
Three trees to plant as a family, for fruit and flowers from the end of winter to autumn!
This trio brings together three young trees that take turns through the seasons. The flowering cherry opens the show at the end of winter, the dwarf pomegranate takes over all summer and the fig tree offers its figs from summer to autumn. A living gift for those who love watching the garden change, young and old alike.
A calendar of flowers and fruit, in the garden or on the terrace
From late February to late March, the ‘Kojo-no-mai’ cherry (Prunus incisa ‘Kojo-no-mai’) covers itself in small pinkish-white flowers, even before its leaves. When summer comes, the ‘Chico’ dwarf pomegranate (Punica granatum ‘Chico’) dresses in bright orange double flowers shaped like carnations. From summer to autumn, the self-fertile ‘Brown Turkey’ fig tree (Ficus carica ‘Brown Turkey’) gives brown figs with melting, very sweet flesh, generally within two years of planting. All three love the sun and grow in the ground as well as in pots.
Plant, water, watch: an adventure to share
Digging the holes, setting the three trees, watering them, spreading the mulch: every step is easy to share with children, who discover how trees grow. It is then up to them to watch for the cherry’s first buds at the end of winter, count the pomegranate’s flowers in summer, then pick and taste the first figs. Three trees, three appointments in the year, and the pride of saying “we planted them ourselves”.
