Description
Vincent Van Gogh, The Sower at sunset
The Sower at sunset belongs to Van Gogh's period in Arles, France. In this painting, we admire a sunset which bathes a field of wheat inorange tint, where a man sows seeds. This figure, focussed on his work, appears in blue tinted clothes, colours which can also be seen in the soil upon which he treads.
A figure of the post impressionist movement, Vincent Van Gogh was originally from the Netherlands.
Van Gogh was a great traveller who voyaged up the length of the Rhône to explore lands which served as inspiration for his landscape painting. Light is a central element in his work. Until the end of his life, he was fascinated by the play of colours which light created, from sunrise to sunset as well as its effects on the natural landscape, fields and earth.
This painting is a real ode to the land and the farmer, as is this bouquet. The varied colours of the field are recreated in lavender, immortelle and helichrysum. The woollyheads encapsulate little suns in this bouquet, whilst oat enhances the floral composition with its off-white hue.
The sun plays a central role in the composition, serving to nurture the earth. An element which gives life to all things, constantly evolving, the earth does not cease to amaze us with the variety of colours it reveals in nature.
Aquarelle's artisan florists and the Ecole du Louvre have collaborated to create a capsule collection of flower bouquets inspired by the works of art of the master painters.
In the same way that a painter uses canvas, paint brushes and paints for their creation, our florists have conceived and composed the bouquets of the collection with a fresh floral colour palette.
They apply the same approach, using similar gestures to create a unique and personal creation.
The aim? To put art at the heart of the everyday, in order to discover or rediscover paintings through bouquets which translate the colours, style and spirit of the artwork.
